Editors' recap: It was style vs. style and substance, and in the end, the Nokia's more versatile play was just too much for the slick, little Motorola to handle. The next round will be tougher for the 3650, as Sony Ericsson's loaded P800 looms--if it can get past the other Nokia entry in this year's field, the 7210.

The fans sound off:
- "While it looks cool with the swivel flip, the V70 just ain't got the goods under the hood to match up with the 3650."
- "The V70 is still a contender even after a year. The staying power and the simple fact that it is even being pitted against a phone that is brand-spankin'-new, should make clear that the V70 is the way."
- "The Motorola V70 is sooooo last year. Nokia 3650 gets my nod, for now."
- "It's all about style! The V70 takes the cake. Nokia's 3650 is an ugly duckling!!"
- "Let's cut to the chase and be honest--there is no way a swivel beats a video camera."
- "The V70 is the coolest phone ever--Nokia seems so tired these days. And what's up with that dial pad?"
- "The V70 is last year's gadget trash. If you're alive today, buy the 3650..."
- "Like the other matchups for the most part--Lakers vs. Clippers--we know who the winner will be, even if it does have an oddball keypad."
- "V70 = form over function, nothing else. 3650 = function and form (in its own way). I take function and form."
- "Perfect phones for the bubblegum crowd--lots of wow factor but too goofy for professionals. Nokia's color is a plus, but the completely nonintuitive keypad is an amateur's mistake. The Moto's solid play shows promise in this development league."
- "The Nokia may be bulky, but at least it doesn't have one of the highest radiation levels in the country."
- "How can you compare color to monochrome? The Nokia is the hot thing now. The V70 used to be lukewarm back when it first came out but never seemed to be mass-marketable."
- "The Moto V70's swivel is cool, but it does not a phone make. Nokia's combo of retro/modern dialing, Bluetooth, and a bigger color screen make it a no-brainer."
